Our Story

Vashon Borich-Leach is the original TUFF Momma® Salt Craft. T.U.F.F.  is an acronym that stands for Tough, Unstoppable, Fearless and Free. She embodies these qualities as a 7th degree black belt in karate, an instructor, serial entrepreneur, business coach, wood crafter and marketing maven. She lives in Branson West with her husband, Ron, two sons, Ty & Jack and a variety of furry pets.

Vashon first got into salt crafting after trying some gourmet salts that were gifted to her. An avid cook, she began experimenting with salt blends and recipes using delicious gourmet salts from around the world. 

While raising her two boys, Ty and Jack, she thought up the idea of teaching them entrepreneurship by selling some of her gourmet salts at a local farmers market. ​​In April of 2019, she and her sons, launched TUFF Momma® Salt Craft with a small selection of seven gourmet salts and a dozen handmade wooden salt racks. The product was well-received in the community and so began the journey of growing a thriving salt business!

​Today we have 27 different gourmet salts and salt blends that we produce in our own commercially-certified Salt Kitchen and have grown the business with retailers all over the United States. We also have a production team, traveling sales associates and professional chefs on staff!

Some of our favorite memories to date are...
  • Building and moving into our first commercial kitchen on Feb. 19, 2022!
  • Getting our first retail market to sell our salts, thank you Crystal Fish!
  • Hosting a cooking show at the KY3 Women's Show in Springfield.
  • ​Participating in War Eagle Fair's (Sharpe's show) a 4 day craft fair, one of the largest craft fairs in the United States!
  • Partnering with The Rogue Chef, Chef Jeff Woodward, in Branson to create his own line of four gourmet salts for his business.

At TUFF Momma® Salt Craft all our salts are all-natural and unrefined. They contain no chemicals or artificial additives. You can be assured that you are getting the most flavorful, pristine salt ingredient possible. We are committed to ethical sourcing. Purchasing our salts from FDA-registered suppliers around the world who are committed to caring for the environment where our salts our sourced, and we hold those suppliers to strict standards of ethical practices.

*NOTE: Our "Brewer's Blend" salt by The Rogue Chef, is NOT gluten free as it is made from a real beer reduction. This means it is ULTRA concentrated gluten... so if you have Celiac's or a gluten allergy, the Brewer's Blend Salt is not for you.

TUFF Momma® Wood Craft

Vashon first got into wood crafting after learning how to build a dog bunk bed for her two rescue dogs, Dixie and Reba. She suddenly got the woodworking bug and began creating all sorts of furniture, spice racks and other products using reclaimed wood. She loves that she is doing her part to help the environment as she rescues trees that have fallen naturally from storms, old barn wood and pallets that would have most-likely been burned or take up space in landfills.

TUFF Momma® Wood Craft uses reclaimed wood and/or pallets in all our projects. This gives each item it's own unique rustic look. Nail holes, burls, scratches, knots and other imperfections are typical of reclaimed wood and gives each product its "aged to perfection" look. 

We use only wood that has been heat treated and certified safe. Be aware of this should you choose to purchase reclaimed wood products from other sellers. They may be unaware or don't check their wood as thoroughly as we do. Some reclaimed wood is treated with harmful chemicals! Ours are not.
